I finished reading Macdonald's The Princess and Curdie to my 10-year old a few weeks ago. A great soul, and I suspect a crypto-Catholic (but that might be my wishful thinkin').
I have little doubt that MacDonald is up there praying next to Lewis, that their Protestant family down here won't wait until death to experience the real presence of Christ.
